The President's review of VCAT - launch of consultation phase and new website
After 10 years of operation, the Victorian community is being given the opportunity to have its say about the tribunal’s performance.
The Honourable Justice Kevin Bell, the president of the tribunal, recently announced the commencement of the public consultation phase of the review he is conducting at the request of the Attorney-General, the Hon. Rob Hulls MP.
His Honour launched the review website
www.vcatreview.com.au which encourages interested parties to email ideas, submit formal submissions and comment online about review topics.
The president’s extensive consultation program includes a tour of regional Victoria, industry workshops, public forums and focus groups.
Building on a range of informal consultation that began in 2008, VCAT’s public submission process will be open from Wednesday 4 March 2009 to Monday 8 June 2009. Interested parties can download a consultation paper or a "have your say" paper from the website, pick one up from VCAT’s customer service centre at 55 King St, Melbourne or have one sent out by contacting 03 9628 9702. Further details of the review, including registrations of interest in attending the workshops and regional events, are available on the website.
