Mary Amiridis has been appointed as VCAT’s Chief Executive Officer, after six months acting in this leadership role.
Announcing the appointment, Acting VCAT President Judge Hampel said she was delighted that the tribunal would benefit from Mary’s leadership into the future.
“Mary will continue working closely with VCAT President Justice Quigley to improve the tribunal's services for users,” Judge Hampel said.
Mary said she was honoured by this opportunity to provide leadership to VCAT at a time of change.
“Over the past six months I have been impressed by the dedication of VCAT members and staff, and the work that is in progress to deliver improved services for our community."
"I am looking forward to the challenges ahead, with significant changes on the horizon. These include significant legislative changes for residential tenancies and human rights, and exciting developments in VCAT’s digital services.
Mary has successfully delivered legislative, policy, regulatory and service delivery reforms in government and court environments, including Court Services Victoria and the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Her experience includes criminal justice reforms relating to sexual assault and family violence, and leading a complex gambling licensing transition in Victoria. Mary is a lawyer with a post-graduate qualification in public administration.
