VCAT Planning and Environment Division COVID-19 Digital Response Program
On 28 April 2020 VCAT received funding to implement digital solutions in the Planning and Environment Division (PED).
On 28 April 2020 VCAT received funding to implement digital solutions in the Planning and Environment Division (PED).
The digital solutions will support the Division’s recovery in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and allow it to resolve matters remotely.
Advancements in technology have changed expectations of how Victorians access the justice system and VCAT is embracing new technologies that will help it better serve the community.
Through the Program, the Division will deliver the following improvements over the coming months:
- Physical case files will be replaced with digital case files to remove reliance on a paper-based process.
- Users will be able to enter details directly into Smart Forms for efficient submission of applications and forms.
- A new technology platform will be used to hear matters virtually which ensures the Division can continue to provide timely access to justice remotely. The solution will complement existing virtual hearing room platforms to better support the Division’s initial phase of recovery.
